Collectibles Make Unique, Personal Gifts (including for yourself!)

Collectibles, or collectors’ items, are any item considered having a value to a collector beyond what the item was originally sold for.

Collectors’ items are not necessarily monetarily valuable or rare, and while some things are produced specifically to be a collectors’ item, that’s not always the case: we’re guessing the people who created a lunch box and thermos for the TV show Happy Days back in the 1970s never knew one of those thermos would be sold in our ReStore for more than it originally sold for.

Collectibles can be items that represent a particular design era, like Art Deco or Art Noveau or Mid Century Modern. They can be antiques, something your grandparents or great-grandparents may have used. They can be something that was mass produced originally but now are quite rare. Collectibles are often in the eye of the beholder: our ReStore staff doesn’t always know what is a collectible, but we love the look on a customer’s face when they find an item that is special to them, because they collect such or because of the era or theme the item provokes.

Collectibles make fantastic gifts because they are unique. That means the ReStore needs to be on your list of places to find the perfect gift for friends and family that love a particular era, TV show, movie or product. The Forest Grove ReStore has an amazing selection of collectibles, including:
