Thrift store finds

We admit to being a bit addicted to the Reddit group Thrift Store Hauls. It’s an online community where people share items they have found at a thrift store, like a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, or at garage sales, rummage sales, flea markets, pawn shops and more. Community members share photos of their finds and a bit about the items. The items are one or more of the following:

  • rare

  • collectible

  • unique (and maybe even one-of-a kind)

  • beautiful

  • highly-valuable

  • vintage

  • representing a particular era

  • practical

  • much-sought after (like high-end cookware)

  • weird

Our marketing and outreach person looks at this online community at least twice a month! Our staff love looking through the photos of dishes, furniture, dolls, cookware, gaming systems, toys and more, seeing what gets people excited - it gives us ideas for what to feature on the Forest Grove ReStore Facebook and Instagram accounts! It also reminds us of just how happy ReStore purchases have made some folks in our own community.

Have you bought something at the Forest Grove ReStore that you think is quite a find? We encourage you to share a photo of the item on your own social media accounts, tagging the Forest Grove ReStore so we know about your excitement! And we encourage you to share the photo and information on the Thrift Store Hauls subreddit as well, with a message that let’s people know you bought the item at the Forest Grove, Oregon ReStore.

Remember: sales from our ReStore help fund the programs of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity right here in Western Washington County, Oregon.

And with that said: Happy New Year! We hope to see you at the ReStore soon!
