mission

The Forest Grove Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a social enterprise that works to support West Tuality Habitat for Humanity in its work to promote affordable housing, undertake critical home repairs and promote housing equity in Western Washington County, including Forest Grove, Cornelius, Gales Creek, Gaston, Banks, Timber, and North Plains.

As a social enterprise, our ReStore works to earn as much revenue as possible for West Tuality Habitat so that we can help more working families in need of a decent place to live. We also hope to help keep our community green by encouraging people to donate and shop with us to prevent thousands of pounds of materials going to landfills every year and to reduce the need for items to be shipped from afar.

The ReStore accepts donations of used furniture and building materials, as well as other items, adds value to those items when possible, then resells them to the general public. You can see a full list of what we sell at the ReStore here.

We sell a big variety of items at the ReStore. We’re most known for our big selection of beautiful, gently-used furniture, but we sell so much more, including new, overstock items that have been offered to us to sell in order to raise funds for West Tuality Habitat for Humanity.

Some people use items they buy at the ReStore as-is, but many like to upcycle items, changing their color, even their shape and function, and using them in their own DIY projects.

We strive to price items at the ReStore at lower prices than you can find for these items new in stores or online, while still earning as much revenue as possible for West Tuality Habitat so that we can help more working families and vulnerable people in need of a decent place to live.

Also consider that by buying items at the ReStore, you are not initiating an order that requires something to be shipped from overseas or from afar, putting even more pollutants into our air and further harming our environment.

The ReStore also plays a significant role in the community green cycle. More than 90% of the furniture, household items, and other goods donated to the ReStore are re-sold or properly recycled with partners, totaling more than one million pounds of goods each year.

By serving as a collection point in collaboration with other agencies, the ReStore keeps many tons of building materials out of the waste stream each year. For example, as a participant in the Metro Paint Recycling Program, the ReStore processes between 5,000 – 6,000 gallons of recycled paint. Working with Oregon e-Cycles, the ReStore is a drop-off site for electronics recycling. We serve as a collection point for homeless shelters and other agencies.

The Forest Grove ReStore was launched in 2008. Here is the history of the Forest Grove ReStore.
